Certain Sigenergy single-phase Energy Controllers are subject to an Australian product recall because their AC plugs may overheat and create a fire risk.
The Australian Competition and Consumer Commission published the recall on 19 November 2025. The affected products were sold in Australia between 4 March and 18 November 2025.
Products covered by the recall
The official recall covers these SigenStor Energy Controller models fitted with quick-connect AC plugs:
- SigenStor EC 8.0 kW SP AU
- SigenStor EC 10.0 kW SP AU
- SigenStor EC 12.0 kW SP AU
The recall notice states that the AC plugs may overheat and become damaged. Incidents had occurred when the recall was published, although no property damage, injuries, or deaths had been reported.
Product ownership should be checked against the model and serial-number information supplied through the mySigen application or Sigenergy's recall process. Similar product names are not enough to determine whether a unit is affected.
Systems stay online while the free plug replacement is arranged
Sigenergy asks owners to keep the system connected to the internet. The company can then apply monitoring and temporary power derating through a firmware update while the physical replacement is arranged.
Affected owners should:
- review any recall notification in the mySigen application
- confirm contact and system details with Sigenergy or the original retailer or installer
- arrange the free AC plug replacement
- avoid opening or modifying the electrical equipment
The recall remedy includes replacement with an updated plug and an additional two-year warranty. The firmware measure is temporary and does not replace the required hardware work.
Customers of Perth Solar Warehouse or PSW Energy can use the McKercher contact page to identify the relevant support path. Include the site address, system owner, model, serial number, and a current contact number where available.
Information for installers
Installers should use Sigenergy's current recall and replacement instructions. Do not rely on an earlier product change notice or a cached copy of the procedure because the regulator and manufacturer pages are the current source.
