Tesla has confirmed that its Powerwall 3 Course Bundle is now an accredited course under Solar Accreditation Australia, carrying 10 CPD points. Product training that previously counted only as internal certification now contributes to the accreditation an installer has to maintain regardless.
That matters because the training and the accreditation requirement have, until now, been separate obligations competing for the same hours.
The bundle contributes 10 of the 100 annual CPD points
Solar Accreditation Australia requires accredited installers and designers to complete 100 CPD points every 12 months on a rolling basis. Points totals and due dates are visible to each accreditee in the SAA Portal. Mandatory modules covering standards and regulatory changes sit within that total rather than on top of it.
The Powerwall 3 Course Bundle contributes 10 points against that annual requirement.
Claiming the points
Tesla has set out three steps:
- Complete the online Powerwall 3 Course Bundle.
- The certificate is emailed to the address registered against the Tesla login on the Monday after the bundle is completed.
- Upload that certificate to the SAA Portal to have the 10 points recorded.
The points are not applied automatically. The certificate has to be uploaded by the accreditee, and the Monday issuing cycle means a bundle finished mid-week will not produce a certificate until the following week. Anyone working to a CPD due date should allow for that gap.
The course now covers the Powerwall 2 compatibility pathway
The bundle carries the current Powerwall 3 material, including the compatibility pathway that has moved from pilot arrangement to official release. Powerwall 3 works with an existing Powerwall 2 system through firmware version 26.26. Tesla has begun the official rollout and it becomes standard at commissioning from mid-August, with installations continuing under pilot firmware until then.

Product approval, stated plainly
Tesla has now given the specific position on Powerwall 2 and the Clean Energy Council approved product list, which had previously been described only in general terms.
Powerwall 2 remains unlisted on that list following the expiry of its listing in August 2025. Tesla states that re-certification is not planned, because the product is being sunset and because of the updated requirements in AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 Amd 2:2024, which took effect on 23 August 2025.
The Clean Energy Council's own position on that amendment is consistent. It was published in August 2024 with a 12-month transition, took effect on 23 August 2025, and any relevant inverter for which the manufacturer did not provide a compliance declaration was removed from the approved list on that date.
The transition band starts at the published month because the Clean Energy Council does not state a publication day. The 23 August 2025 effective date, on which inverters lacking a manufacturer compliance declaration were removed from the approved list, is exact.

For a mixed system, Tesla's position is that only the Powerwall 3 requires a current listing. Existing Powerwall 2 units remain compliant, and new Powerwall 3 and Powerwall 3 Expansion units are listed and installed under a new connection agreement.
This is the question a customer with an older system is most likely to ask, and it now has a direct answer rather than an inference.

The certification the group already holds
Perth Solar Warehouse and PSW Energy hold Tesla Certified Installer status, and Tesla requires mixed-system work to be completed by a certified installer.
Three practical points follow:
- The course now serves two purposes. Installers completing it for product competency also record 10 CPD points, provided they upload the certificate.
- Certificates need to be uploaded, not filed. A completed course with an unuploaded certificate contributes nothing to accreditation.
- The Powerwall 2 listing position can now be stated. Staff advising a customer on adding capacity to an older system can answer the approved-list question directly, and cite the reason.
