Sigenergy issued a product release notice dated 21 August 2026 introducing the SigenStack PACK Thermal Insulation Board. It is an optional accessory rather than a change to the batteries themselves, and it releases on 15 September 2026.
The board snaps around an individual SigenStack battery pack. The manufacturer states that it reduces heat loss, minimises heating pad power consumption and improves overall system efficiency. The second of those is the one with a measurable effect on a site: a SigenStack pack draws power to keep its cells within operating temperature in cold conditions, and that draw comes out of stored energy the household or the business has already paid to put in.
The supply arrangement is stated as follows.

The guidance is drawn by latitude, and Western Australia straddles two bands
Sigenergy sets its application guidance by latitude rather than by country or market. Three bands are published.

Southern Australia appears in the middle band, alongside southern Europe and Japan. The notice does not recommend the accessory anywhere in Australia. It permits it and leaves the decision to site conditions.
Applied to Western Australia, the bands split the state. Perth sits at about 32 degrees south, inside the optional band, as do Albany, Esperance and Kalgoorlie. Broome and the Pilbara sit below 23 degrees, in the band the notice says does not require the accessory at all. A single specification decision for a business operating across the state is therefore not available, and the correct answer at Karratha is not the correct answer at Albany.
Regional conditions, not the latitude line, decide it inside the optional band
The wording of the middle band puts the weight on regional conditions rather than on the latitude figure. That is the more useful test, because latitude is a poor proxy for how cold a battery enclosure gets overnight in Western Australia.
The state's coldest sites are inland rather than simply southerly. Frost is a recorded feature of the Western Australian Wheatbelt, to the point that it is studied for its effect on wheat yield, and it is not a feature of coastal Perth, where the Bureau of Meteorology puts the long-term July mean daily minimum at 8.1 degrees. A pack installed in an unheated shed or an exposed external position inland sees conditions the metropolitan area does not.
Sites where the accessory is worth pricing are the ones combining a cold inland location, an exposed or unheated installation position, and a system where the stored energy is fully committed. Sites in the Perth metropolitan area, in a garage or a sheltered external position, have the weakest case for it under the manufacturer's own framing.
Timing sits with the order rather than with the installation
The accessory attaches to packs already in the field as readily as to new ones, since it snaps around the pack rather than forming part of it. Unlike the SigenStack battery controller code transition recorded on 18 August, which takes effect on 30 September 2026 and cannot be applied retrospectively to incompatible hardware, nothing here is decided at the point of ordering the battery.
That removes the pressure to specify it now. A system installed before 15 September 2026 in a location where the case is marginal can be assessed after a winter of operating data rather than on a forecast.
